Runaway Bay is a waterfront and canal suburb located toward the northern end of the Gold Coast. The waterfront is a short stroll and is a paradise for boat lovers with ample boating opportunities. Some parts of the suburb have no bridges allowing high-mast access to the Broadwater and Seaway. Runaway Bay also has a sailing dinghy/trailerable yacht facility operated by Southport Yacht Club. The waterfront is just a short stroll for the locals or tourists. Its location offers a paradise for the boat lover. South Stradbroke Island protects the suburb from the ocean elements.
